Ontario Traditional Chinese Medicine Centre (Ontario TCMC) was founded in October, 1995. It is located at the North-West corner of Hurontario Street / Dundas Street in Mississauga.
The centre provides medical services of TCM diagnosis and treatment, including herbal remedy, Acupuncture, Massage and Auricular Diagnosis & Therapy. The founder, Prof. Richard G. Y. Mao is an experienced TCM Practitioner, specialized in treating diseases caused by exogenous pathogenic factor，tumour, gynaecological diseases, dermatosis and all kinds of pain.
Prof. Mao has been devoting to his research and studies on traditional and modern theories of TCM for a long time. He is specialized in treating difficult and complicated cases. He studied classic Chinese Medicine theories developed by the TCM sage Zhongjing Zhang, who lived about 1,700 years ago and was known as the best in TCM history. He also adopted skills and experience from many well-known TCM specialists. He is highly proficient at natures and functions of all kinds of herbs. He could cure tough cases of cold and flu just in one or two days with his herbal prescription. He provides psychological treatment for those depressed patients, along with herbs and acupuncture. Prof. Mao is also highly skilled in treating cancers, by supporting chemo and radio therapies with reduced side effects and increased efficiency, helping cancer patients build positive attitude, improving quality of life and prolonging their life time. Thereby, Prof. Mao’s superb medical skills and ethics are well spoken of by his patients and are fast spread mouth by mouth.
Nevertheless, Prof. Mao is still diligently striving for further improvement in his medical knowledge and skills. He studied 24-type of Acupuncture methods from the famous Chinese acupuncturist, Prof. Jing Zhang. He also studied intensively the essence of various acupuncture methods since “Huang Di Nei Jing” came into being and mastered different kinds of needling methods from many famous acupuncturists. For instance, he adopted Collateral Pricking & Blood Letting from Prof. Xiuzhen Wang, Peculiar Method of Needling from Prof. Jingchang Dong, Wrist-Ankle Needling method from Prof. Xinshu Zhang, and Head Acupuncture from Prof. shunfa Jiao & Xuejian Lin. He absorbed the essence and merits from these methods and accumulated experience from years of clinical practice. Eventually, he developed his own needling features of fewer needles, more efficiency and less-recurrence. His superb skills have gained trust from his patients and other practitioners’ respect.
In recent years, Dr. Mao studied Auricular Diagnosis and Treatment from its founder, Prof. Lichun Huang. This new development has enhanced the function of four –way TCM Diagnosis, accelerated and improved the clinical effect, and is able to detect tough diseases such as cancer in their early stages in order for the patients to receive early treatment and recovery. As a result, Prof. Mao has earned his reputation among his patients.
